Paint is a coating on the surface, forming a continuous firmly attached film-a matching of engineering materials. Early coating is raw materials such as grease and natural resins, and it also called paint coatings.

Coatings composed by four parts, they are film forming substances, pigments and fillers, solvents and water, additives.Filmforming substance (also known as adhesives or binders): it is the most important part in the coating. The paint without filmforming substance can not be the paint. Filmforming substance is an organic material, primarily are oil and the resin ( polymer material).

Pigments and fillers: pigments and fillers are organic or organic powder with diameter about 0.2-10um particle. In the paint manufacturing process, it will disperse in the film-forming material by means of various methods. Paint pigment imparts a variety of colors, the protective effect of the coating has an important contribution. Fillers known as extender pigment, no staining effect, but it can improve certain properties of the coating, and reduce the cost of paint.

Solvent and water: solvent in the paint composition is capable of dissolving the film-forming volatile organic compounds. Organic solvent and water is the dispersion medium, coating on the rear surface of the object which should be substantially volatilize. Thus the solvent and water is used to improve the coating coat ability, with no significant effect on the final film properties. Solvent evaporation is main atmosphere contamination form paint. For the type and amount of solvent, each country have different strict restrictions, it also an important aspect of paints detection.

Additives: Additives is auxiliary materials of paint, but they are indispensable ingredient in paint. It can improve the paint production process, improve the coating application and curing conditions and appearance of the coating, and improve the storage stability of the coating,product quality, giving the paint special features. That is said: no paint is not using additives. Such as emulsifiers, dispersing agents, defoamers, flame retardants, driers, antifouling agent, precipitating agent, anti-TB skin etc. Those are important additives in paint;s manufacture, storage, construction , curing film and long-term use.
